Hello everyone! Another week has past and our Government  is still on shutdown. This means the Everglades National Park and Biscayne National Park are still on lockdown for not only the many of us that rely on it to make a living but to everyone else. Since I haven't been allowed to take my anglers to experience all the amazing things the park has to offer we have been exploring the many fishing opportunities outside of the park boundaries. The main ingredient has been a live well full of pilchards. We have been fishing the local channels and bridges with great success. Look to run in to some big Mangrove Snappers, Muttom Snapper, big Jacks, Tarpon, Snook, keeper size Groupers and many more. Anglers heading out in to Gulf water are reporting a mixed bag while fishing bottom structure. Cobia, Permit, Mackerel, Sharks, Snappers and Groupers have all been common catches. If the water is dirty move over to a spot with cleaner water for better results. Look for the Bonefish and Permit to be active around the Oceanside flats on the incoming tides and the beginning of the outgoing. The Bonefish have been eating shrimp and small crabs while a silver dollar size crab won't be refused by a hungry Permit. I know the situation our country is going thru is very disappointing but you can still get out on the water and take advantage of the many fishing opportunities the Florida Keys has to offer.
