Florida Keys backcountry fishing report August 31- September 4

Isaac is gone and it's time to get back on the water for some great fishing. The Everglades National Park got a pretty good stirring from the gusty winds and strong tides. Make sure you pay attention when running to and from your favorite spot since debris like tree limbs might be present where they weren't before. The weather for this weekend should be back to normal and so is the bite. Look for some Redfish, Snook, sharks and a few Tarpon to be feeding in and around the Flamingo area with Trout and the local rod benders there as well. The mainland shorelines from East Cape to Middle Cape will have Snooks and Reds cruising close to the beach with many other species like Tarpon and a few Tripletail’s there to. The best Trout bite will be going on strong in the south western areas of the Everglades National Park and right off it's gulf water boundaries. White bucktail jigs bounced on the bottom behind the boat wile you drift is the ticket for some great action.

The Tarpon bite around local area bridges and channels should pick up a bit as calmer weather conditions settle in for the weekend. Dead baits on the bottom are probably going to be your best bet during daylight hours and medium size crabs drifted in the dark with an outgoing tide will produce the best action. With the calm weather forecasted for the weekend Bonefish and Permit fishing through out the keys should fir up. Fish the high incoming and high out going tides on the deeper edges of ocean side flats for the best action. Hope our friends in the path of Hurricane Isaac recover quickly and are able to get back on the water soon.
